Shakespeare published Antony and Cleopatra in 1623 and here I am reading it decades later and wondering where it all went wrong
Whoever knows Shakespeare knows that he was the genius who wrote things that are and will always remain relevant. This is one of his genius works.
Antony and Cleopatra is a tragic play which describes the fall of Antony and his alleged side-affair - Cleopatra.
Now, I was eleven when I read about the queen of Egypt and I was intrigued by her charm and charisma which was almost shadowed by the fact that I was told. The fact that she was a whore. I was intrigued by her in first place because she was a beautiful queen who ruled for years and also because she was one of the first lady-bosses I came across but as I said her image was destroyed time on time by movies, books, literature pieces which said she was a whore because of her choices in men and leisure. She is known to destroy men and kingdoms by enticing them. Literature and art have never been kind to woman. The genius have been men and they have described them as seductress and power mongers and that worries me. That worries me because these works are called genius and yet there is no place for woman in the genius. That worries me because when a lady like Cleopatra has guts to rule years and years, she is contemplated as seductress. Her brains are often let down by her body. According to me, history can’t be changed but it can always be altered for better and a beautiful future and this needs to change. People need to realise that the bosom was not the reason for success, that she was as woman of a brain as she was of vagina, that maybe she was more than a seductress.
MAYBE SHE WAS THE QUEEN WHO KNEW HOW TO RULE.
